ALA MOANA WASTEWATER PUMP STATION FORCE MAINS #3 AND #4

  • The contractor chose to use a Vertical Shaft Sinking Machine (VSM) to construct the deep shafts on each side of Honolulu Harbor

PEARL HARBOR CHANNEL UNDERWATER WATERLINE CROSSING

  • Installation of a 24-in. DR 18 fusible PVC water transmission main via horizontal directional drilling (HDD)
    under the Pearl Harbor channel from Pearl City Peninsula to Ford Island
  • A pneumatic hammer (yellow arrow) used to drive the 48-in casing
    (each approximately 40 ft. long) into the ground
